The theme illustrated in the book, Unbroken is that regardless of the circumstance one may be facing, it is crucial to never surrender or stop trying. This relates to Unbroken, because throughout the story the protagonist, Louie, faces numerous obstacles that seemed impossible to overcome, yet he continually fought to conquer them. For example, Louie and two others are stranded in the middle of the ocean for 47 days. Despite the harsh conditions and death of another survivor Louie preservers until he is rescued.

Lone survivor

Similar to Unbroken, Lone Survivor, by Marcus Luttrell is a book that carries the theme of never giving up. It is about four Navy Seals who are trapped and are being hunted down in the Hindu Kush Mountains. The Seals must undergo great suffering in order to leave alive. Like Unbroken this book features people's will power to survive in deadly situations.
