Americans watch white police ‘catching’ and ‘rounding up’ the bad black man. TV perpetuates the story of crime, but does not reveal the background of ‘deformation of poor children by their own government and society.’

Kozol listens to four children talking about sex, drug addiction, and alcohol with a chipper, upbeat, and animated tone that does NOT match the words they are using.
