Stomach:

Holden Caulfield longs for many things. He hardly admits what he truly desires, only subtly, which is the protection his and others innocence. In flashbacks of the museum visits where “everything always stayed right where it was” (121) and melancholy reminicents of the past shared with Jane, Holden secretly “hungers” for his childhood. Revisiting memories near the end of the book, Holden realizes that “the only thing that is different is [him]” (121). The roller-skates are a reminder of being young; symbolizing the departed days of adolescence.
