The Iron Act was passed by English Parliament. This act limited the growth of the iron industry in the colonies to project the English iron industry.

At this point in time, slavery was legal in all 13 colonies and there were now over one million people living in America.

This Act also prohibited the 13 colonies from producing finished iron goods and the use of furnaces that produced steel for tools.

New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware were the main colonies who were most involved in the iron industry and therefore were the most angry about the Iron Acts.
