A Look on Lying

Is this action okay?

Although it seems like this act of lying seems okay because it mitigates possible pain from the child, it is wrong because of something called expediency. Expediency basically means convenience. Utilitarianism says expediency does not truly promote happiness like other actions do.

Therefore, lying for expediency is wrong.
