ER Functions
The rough ER produces protein and sends it throughout the cell, its sort of like a hallway for the proteins. Rough ER forms all the building material needed for cellular membranes on or in it.The rough ER takes in and moves reticulum structural proteins ( Very large protein and its made of thousands of amino acids). The smooth ER compounds lipids and certain carbohydrates. The smooth ER works on cholesterol fusion and disintegration, detoxification of drugs, and fat metabolism. The smooth ER manufactures carbohydrates, proteins, and fats that make the nuclear membrane. The smooth ER is usually a maze of tubules, where phospholipid and steroid synthesis and carbohydrate metabolism happens.
The Endoplasmic Reticulum is an organization of membranes that wind back and forth through the cytoplasm. It is a system of liquid filled cisterns. The ER serves as a main site of protein rendition for eukaryotes. The ER carries diverse enzyms for the alloy of fats. The ER stores, adapts, and carries protein in the cell, typically lysosomal enzymes and membrane-embedded proteins. Inside the ER's tubules, the proteins constructed by the ribosomes fold into their 3D shape and then are transported to other areas in the cell.
