Artist's Statement
I create art for my own betterment in hopes of improving my own skills. I began the class with mostly just personal goals to improve. My own satisfaction in my art abilities is all that I have to base my progress on. I do not seek to achieve much other than my own approval of my skills.
I usually like to use vivid colors whenever I can. This leads me to lean towards ebony pencils over just graphite and building up with multiple colors over one alone. I like to build colors over each other and make them more contrasting whenever I can. While I am working I try to step away from the art and see where it is too light or dark and then try to balance it out.
In sixth grade we did a lot of shading so I try to use those skills and keep in mind where light is coming from in my art. I did a lot of ceramics in and out of school so I try to use the same techniques I used then now in my school projects. I want to explore my skills and see how well I can do with the better resources at school. I want to challenge myself and see how much better I can get in just one school year and going forward.
