Relationship with Hitler

- In the beginning Rommel admired Hitler's leadership and believed he would recreate a strong Germany

- Towards the end of WW2 Rommel began to disagree with Hitler's war strategy and discussed surrending with other officers.

- Rommel disobeyed Hitler's direct orders when he retreated to prevent the annihilation of his forces. He also refused to execute Allied officers.
