I take the pleasure to write a few lines to let you know that I am still in goo d health hoping that your are all enjoying the same Further I let you know that I received a letter from you before we left camp up in Pleasant Valley and also one from Cyrus and I answered Cyrus' letter but your one I didn't answer because I had a letter sent for you the day before and I thought I would get an answer for that but I got no letter since Further I let you know that we are encamped about 30 miles from Washington on the maraland side we came on the cars from pleasant valley to washington and then were shipt on transports down here we have a nice camp here right beside the river the boys are all expecting to get home before to long i don't know how long it will be but we don't need to fight anymore i think we will have a great time when we get discharged about brother John i didn't hear anything this long time if you write let me know if you heard anything of him further i let you know that i got those postage stamps that you sent me also let you know that i sent a little song book home when you write let me know if you got it or not I don't know anymore particular news at present there are many different reports about getting discharged but I don't know anytime for sure yet when it will be but they aren't keeps us long any more the campaign is finished now I will come to a close this time answer soon and give me all the news
