Description

The Sumatran orangutan is concentrated and endangered in the island of Sumatra, in monsoon Asia. Now located in the northern part of the island, they have become endangered mainly due to deforestation (clearing away of forest to make room for housing complexes and farming area) and poaching (the illegal hunting of animals for selling as pets or other items). This results in a rapid population decrease.
