The Purpose

The Civilian Conservation Corps was formed in an effort to reduce unemployment and promote environmental conservation.

In order to be enlisted in the CCC:

•must be jobless

•must be single

•must be over the age of 18 but under the age of 26

The members of the CCC were referred to by the president as the "tree army".
