1882-- Daniel Colloden used an underwater bell to calculate the speed of sound underwater in lake Geneva, Switzerland. This research led to other inventions of sonar devise by other inventors.


1906-- Lewis Nixon Invented the very first sonar listening device type as a way to detect icebergs.


1915-- Paul Langevin invented the first sonar type device for detecting submarines it is was called an echo location to detect submarines.


1918-- United States of America and Great Britten both have active sonar system.


1957-- Sonar was the sale of the first transistorized sporting sonar.


1959-- Lowrance introduced the "little green box" which became the most popular sonar instrument in the world
