This quote is from chapter 26 after Huck lies to Joanna, hare-lip, and Mary Jane forces her to apologize for being rude. This is the point where Huck realizes these girls are to polite and sweet to steel from. Huck knows that what the duke, King and him have done is wrong and the guilt has finally started to get to him.
