He saw nature in terms of light and color. He rejected these limitations and instead wanted to be more expressive. He also was not concerned with drawing the stuff of light and other visual effects like those seen in the impressionism movement, he was less peaceful . Van Gogh wanted to express his meaning beyond the surface looks ,and painted with emotion.
