Blade of Grass (Under a microscope)

10x magnification

40x magnification

On the 40x picture what is shown is mostly vascular cells. These cells are the long dark lines seen, they resemble panels. These cells are dark and not green because these cells have no chloroplasts in them which causes them not to photosynthesize. What is causing the grass to appear green is the palisade, mesophyll cells or the chloroplasts which are the photosynthesizing cells.
