Uses for gamma rays

Gamma rays are used primarily as an energy source in power plants. More recently, it has also had applications in radiation therapy

Gamma rays are harmful. They can and will damage cells with prolonged exposure. When doing radiation therapy, cells will be damaged by the process, but they normally are able to recover and repair themselves. Cancer cells are unable to regenerate.
