1. Analyze the motives for European exploration.
Basically, God, gold, and glory, but let's look a little deeper. Motives differed between nations, but these three things were what they revolved around. The Spanish were interested in riches, mostly gold, and even sent Christopher Columbus to find the best routes for their travels. Spain and France wanted to spread Christianity. The English wanted to colonize in new areas and expand their power beyond their borders.
