About 57 percent of the parents involved in the ESPN survey of more than 1,000 people said that the recent stories about concussions in football have made them less likely to let their kids play in youth league, according to ESPN. About two thirds said concussions are a serious issue in youth football.

Although there is a dramatic increase of children visiting the ER because of concussions, the severity of the injuries is less high. it is partly because that parents are educating themselves about the injuries and want to make sure their child is ok, according to Dr. Holly Hanson.
