There is no doubt that society is too dependent on technology, even though there are people who do not use these devices, most of the population has their phone, and get them out and use them at least once an hour. It's pitiful, but I admit to this too, and personally, I don't really think this is an issue, unless you have things to do, you have to be responsible while at work, or working, or just being respectful not interrupting conversation by answering the phone or texting, that's what I believe is the worst part.
