Elizabeth and Marie stay up every night to find the map and they found it in the sign out in front of the bakery/house.

Elizabeth met a lawyer on her boat ride to New Orleans, and when she had the map she went to him and he said that he could sell it to the British in return of her fathers freedom. It took a long time but she got her farther back.
