🔹Every since 1864-1988 there was always a hearing president at Gallaudet University

🔹1988 was the year it would finally change

🔹The Deaf Community slowly noticed they were not being represented or helped in the way they needed

🔹The Deaf Community began to meet to discuss the newly found issue

🔹Once Elisabeth Zinser was nominated for president the protests began

🔹Students began to lockdown school, blocked off entrances, and deflated car tires

🔹Students created their list of demands;Zinser must resign, deaf president must be selected, Spilman must resign, 51% of the board must be Deaf, and no reprisals

🔹Other communities and students began to join in on the protests

🔹Day 8 of the protests the deaf students got all their wishes

🔹This protest has forever changed the past, present, and future

🔹The deaf community is no longer seen as "unable"

🔹The Deaf people don't want to be "cured", they love their culture

🔹Deaf people are no less or unviable then hearing people
