What did they believe?

The puritians believed in many things such as: 

-women who were pregnant with a male child had rosy complexion and that women carrying a female child were pale.

-church attendance was mandatory.

-harsh punishment was inflected on those who were seen as straying from gods work.

-adulterers might have been forced to wear the scarlet "A".
