Why was Israel considered the homeland of the Jews?
Israel was the land promised to Abraham in the bible. Israel was named after Abraham's grandson, who's descendants are the Jewish people, and who were given the promised land of Israel. They have lived in Israel for more than 3200 years; Although, they were exiled from Israel by the Romans in 135 C.E. The Jews ultimately maintain their historical and cultural ties to Israel as their homeland. Theodor Herzl was the founder of the Zionist movement which was a political movement to establish a homeland for the Jewish people. On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly voted 33 to 13, with 10 abstentions, in favor of a Partition Plan that created the State of Israel.
