Marist Brothers

-Founded in 1817 by Marcellin Champagnat.

-First school opened in LaValla, France in 1818.

-Students were not charged.

-The Brothers made nails to support themselves.

-In 1840 (year Marcellin died) there were 48 establishments in France and 278 Brothers.

-Marist came to the U.S in 1885.

-There are Marist schools all over the world.
