His father died before he was born, so his mother and his uncle raised him.

He had 4 siblings ( one died when Rutherford was 2.)

. He attended private schools,Kenyon college in Ohio and Harvard law school.

. Was very smart.

. He also attended a school in Middletown CT in 1842.

. They moved to Ohio 5 years prievoulsy before his Rutherford's dad died.

. When Rutherford was young they called him Rud for a nickname.
