Night of Saint John

On June 24th people celebrate Saint Johns birthday. He is believed to have been the Baptist to have baptize Jesus. This act laid the foundation for the baptist rituals in many Christian churches. People flocked to the beaches of their land to jump backwards seven times. They believe when doing this ritual rids them of their bad luck. During this event families would throw parties and build small fires where they write wishes or sins and burn them in the fire. At night they would stay up all night by the bonfire to see the sunrise.
