In this lab, we performed a calorimetry experiment to determine which ionic solid would be the best hand warmer. Our result was a solid that was both efficient and inexpensive: calcium chloride. In addition to performing these multiple calorimetries, we also learned how to calculate calorimetry constants and molar heat and calculated these values. This can be applied to the real world as a hand warmer can really be created and sold.
