Figurative Language

Alliteration:

"come and see with thi own eyes what tha's prayed for many a long day!"

In this quote the author is creating emotion. Telling how in a rush and excited the Nanny is to bring Penelopeia down the stairs to see Odysseus.

Hyperbole:

"My heart has been frozen all this time with a fear that someone would come and deceive me with a false tale;..."

The author is putting understanding and emotion into the quote. Saying that Penelopeia was building a mental/emotional wall upon her heart so she wouldn't be tricked by the men in the villages.
