The History of Antidepressants

-The first antidepressant was discovered by chance in the 1950s while looking for good treatments for schizophrenia.
-After realizing that this pill worsened schizophrenics' symptoms, they realized it as perfect for depressed people and put in into the market under the name Tofranil.
When/How were they discovered?
-By 1990, analysts predicted that Prozac, an extremely popular SSRI, could make up to $175 million a year, and blew that statistic out of the wart by earning $350 million alone in 1989.
