Hephaestus parents were Hera and Zeus. Hephaestus was an unwanted son and was rejected by his parents who saw no beauty in him. His physical form was defected which left him lame. Hera abandoned Hephaestus and threw him off Mount Olympus, He was found near the Island of Lemnos. He was rescued by Sea Nymphs and Titan Goddesses. They kept him hidden from his parents in a underwater cave. Living there, Hephaestus became a craftsman. He began to fashion jewelry. Soon his amazing jewelry got out and Hera wanted some. They told her that it was made by her own son and Hera knew that it was wrong to abandoned him, And so Hephaestus was invited to return to Mount Olympus and to take his place amongst the gods. Hephaestus declined, then sent Hera a beautiful golden throne. The throne was a trap and when Hera sat in it ropes tied her down. Hephaestus must of been still mad with Hera because she rejected him. No one could free Hera so, Zeus sent Ares to bring Hephaestus back to let Hera out. But Hephaestus ran him off hurling firebrands at him. Zeus sent Dionysus to get Hephaestus drunk. Dionysus captured Hephaestus and Zeus made him let her go, but Hephaestus denied that Hera was his mother, Hera feeling bad always gave him supplies for a his workshop, in that workshop Hephaestus made many inventions. Hephaestus was lonely so Zeus arranged for Aphrodite to marry him. Aphrodite didn't love Hephaestus so she had many affairs. Hephaestus was tired of all her affairs and caught Ares and Aphrodite in action. He threw a net over them and showed everyone in town Ares and Aphrodite naked. He took them to court for adultery, but Ares pointed out that it was Hephaestus who had fashioned Aphrodite to look irresistible. He paid the fines but said that she that was worth every penny.
