A common program under the Social Security act is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or known by SNAP… or by food stamps. These are given out based on gross and net income. Usually given lower income families and/or with disabled family members.


There are approximately 47 MILLION people on food stamps. The highest in two decades.

Enacted on August 14, 1935. Originally created to help old-aged people along with people who are blind, children who are disabled, maternal and child welfare, public health, and to help people who are unemployed.

It is an ENTITLEMENT program
