Job Description
Herpetologists collect and analyze data to study the origins, behaviors, genetics, diseases, and life process of reptiles and amphibians.
Working Conditions-
Most herpetologists work M-F with two to five days of field work. Days start from 6am to 8am and run until 5pm to 8pm.
Typical Day-
What is it?-
• Collect and analyze animal specimens.
•Study animals in their natural habitat.
•Take inventory of animal population levels
Tools and Terminology-
Snake hook- Used to pick up venomous snakes.
Gloves- Protect hands from being bit.
Antivenom- Held in case a herpetologist is bit by a snake.
Scale- Used to measure the weight of a reptile or amphibian
