After Vince Lombardi died he was inducted as a charter member of Fordham University's Hall of Fame in 1970, had the Rotary Club of Houston create The Lombardi Award in 1970 (an annual honor that recognizes the nations best college linemen), was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971, and the NFL renamed "The Super Bowl Trophy" to the "Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy" in 1971
