* The main part of a fungus is made up of a dense network of thin microscopic filaments. This is called the mycelium.
These filaments are usually several centimetres long. They sometimes measure over one metre. They penetrate the ground or plant and animal matter. We usually cannot see them.
* Fungi feed by releasing digestive juices. These juices decompose the organic matter near the mycelium.
The decomposed organic matter is then absorbed by the filaments of the mycelium.
* Fungi mainly reproduce through spores. A new individual is formed from these cells.
