The rulers of the Normans were the Dukes of Normandy. The Dukes held all authority. Duke William of Normandy, the leader of the Normans, invaded England and introduced Norman-style feudalism. At the Battle of Hastings Duke William defeated King Harold of England and took the throne. He was able to win because his army was larger and more prepared.
