Bilingual Education

The students also protested for bilingual education. They weren't allowed to speak Spanish in school, and were forced to learn English. The teachers only spoke English, and the Chicano students only spoke Spanish. They lost valuable education time when their teachers would only use English and not teach English to the Chicano students. With bilingual education, they would teach in Spanish, and teach English to gradually switch them to English in schools.
