Albert Einstein was a strong believer in world peace, so when he found out that Germany was creating an atomic bomb in the early 1930's, he decided he needed to do something. Later in 1939, with encouragement from his fellow physicist, he wrote a letter informing and encouraging our current president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, to build up our own atomic bomb.
Atomic Bomb
In 1945 Albert started to realize the consequences that a weapon that large could cause. He then wrote a second letter in 1945 to president Roosevelt warning him of the dangers, but Roosevelt had passed away before he was able to read the letter. The atomic bomb was dropped in Japan on August 6,1945. Around 200,000 people were killed or injured. Three days later, the Japanese surrendered and World War II ended . When Albert was informed about the tragedy in Japan he said he was devastated and said it was "the worst mistake of his life." These events made Albert a stronger believer in world peace.
