Culture

Culture in Mozambique is very diverse. Mozambique has many different ethnic groups. Some of them are Shangaan, Chokwe, Manyoka, Sena, and Makua. These groups influence most of Mozambique culture. The most popular contemperary artists are Chissano and Malangatana. Chissano is a major sculptor and Malangatana is a famous Mozambican painter. Many Mozambicans rely on small farms called machambas for food. While fishing is also popular in Mozambique, maize or corn is their staple food. The biggest sport in Mozambique is football or soccer. Many Mozambicans wear the traditional Capulans or headscarves.
