SECTION 4.3 PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING PROJECTIVE TESTS
Several projective tests are derived from Freudian theories. Specifically, these tests serve to bypass the conscious mind and get responses form the subconscious mind when given a novel stimuli.
Pro: Allows the tester to receive unstructured
responses that may be hidden by structured
responses
Con: Interpretations have been standardized with
many tests, but this takes away from the
unstructured nature. Even standardized assessments
are open to subjective interpretations as to what
information is most relevant.
