In the book Touching Spirit Bear a boy named Cole is banished to an island in Alaska, because he violently attacked another boy. On the island Cole learned to deal with his anger and find peace.

Touching Spirit Bear

Cole carved his own totem pole with animals he saw on the island. He choose to carve animals and their meanings. An example of this is how Cole carved a wolf to represent how people are stronger when together or in a pack.
