Battle of Chaldrian

The Ottomans deployed heavy artillery and thousands of Janissaries equipped with firearms behind a wall of carts. They were trusting in the protective charisma of Shan Ismail. The qizilbash or red heads attacked the Ottomans and lost. The Ottomans temporarly occupied the Safavid capital, but lacked the needs to destroy the Safavid empire.
