My Opinion
Abstinence-only programs have been harshly criticized by leading medical professionals and organizations for being contradictory to scientific principles and medical ethics.

The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) says, “programs that teach students that condoms or contraception do not work will not prevent students from having sexual intercourse. Such programs may, however, discourage teens from using protection when they do become sexually active, thereby putting them at risk for STDs and unintended pregnancy.”
Abstinence-only programs sometimes negatively affect the LGBT youth community. They also do not address sexual abuse.
