A monarchy is a form of government in which sovereignty is actually or normally embodied in a single individual (the monarch).
Monarchy
Monarchs rule for life and pass the responsibilities and power of the position to their child or another member of their family when they die.
Monarchies often go hand in hand with religion. If a nation has a state religion, the monarchy will usually be strongly affiliated with it.
