Classical Scoring Technique

The Classical Scoreing technique is when an orchestra is playing in the background, and the music fits the mood for that scene. Happy scene = Optimistic Music.

THEMES are created by the composer to represent a desired mood/setting/etc.

MOTIFS are notes in a specific pattern that are formed to play for a character, or aspect of an idea.

The Classical Scoring Technique can be used to hide the cuts between scene to scene and carry on the flowing feel for the film.

1933’s King Kong was the first film that used the Classical Scoring Technique throughout the entire film.

Late 1920’s, Early 1930’s
