Hans Krebs was a famous biochemist and physician born in Hildesheim, Germany on August 25, 1900. He is best known for his discoveries of two important chemical reactions. His father was an Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeon so he decided to follow his fathers profession. He entered the University of Göttingen in December of 1918 to study medicine. In 1919 he transferred to the University of Freiburg. In 1923 he published his first technical paper on tissue staining technique, the study of which he started under guidance of his teacher. Krebs completed his medical course in 1923. He spent one year at the Third Medical Clinic in the University of Berlin to obtain a medical license. By then he changed his mind and decided he wanted to be a medical researcher, particularly towards chemistry. He finally earned his Medical Degree in 1925 from the University of Hamburg.

Hans was married in March of 1938. Together they had two sons, Paul and John, and a daughter, Helen.
