In addition to massive emigration from the eastern US, the California gold rush triggered a global emigration of fortune-seekers from China, Germany, Chile, Mexico, Ireland, Turkey, and France. By 1858, the Gold Rush ended
California is made a state on September 9, 1850. The California Gold Rush began the previous decade when a gold nugget was discovered in a river. This discovery stimulated huge migrations of people from the eastern United States, to the west. By September 9, 1850 California was the 31st state.
