The Samsung Gear S boasts 3G connectivity, which means it can operate without an accompanying smartphone – a first for Samsung smartwatches, which before now required a Galaxy handset. Samsung's new smartwatch certainly looks the business, with a 2-inch rounded face that makes use of the curved Super AMOLED face found on the Samsung Gear Fit. The 360 x 480 resolution is one of the best out there.

2015. The Apple Watch was released. With Apple’s App Store ecosystem tying directly into the Apple Watch, users will get a chance to extend their apps to new possibilities.


I have been able to book an Uber ride, track my food, view hyperlocal weather (accurate to ~5 minutes for rain predictions, and more. In Fall 2015, watchOS 2.0 will debut allowing apps to run natively on the watch, significantly increasing overall performance.
