For most explorers, explorers, the main motives for exploration were the 3 G's: God, Glory, and Gold, god, for spreading Christianity to other lands out of Europe, Glory, for gaining respect when you returned from exploration, and gold, for bringing wealth back to Europe once the journey has ended.
