The conflict of the story is that Will does not know what is going to be ahead in his journey. Will will go through some hard and confusing times being the last of the Old Ones. As Will collects the pieces things start to disappear and their are these questions going through his head.

The Rider is also another conflict because he is the enemy and tries to take Will's hard work and the rings away as does Maggie Barnes.
