I chose the copper plating experiment because I thought it looked fun, would be interesting, and I found out that with at little bit of work, I could do it at home. I'm very glad that I chose this project, because it proved to be all those things. I found out that for electroplating, using about three grams of copper sulfate and leaving the nail in for about five minutes works the best, and for copper plating three grams of copper sulfate and ten minutes works the best. Much longer than this, or which much more copper sulfate than this, rather than a nice coat of copper, the copper starts falling off and looking rusty. I also found out that adding food coloring in no way affects the experiment.
